This incident took place in the Rupahihat area, where police took strict action against illegal gambling dens operating near the railway lines. Rupahihat police conducted a surprise raid on the gambling spots located alongside the tracks and completely destroyed them. Following the destruction of these dens, the police are maintaining a close watch on those gathering there or involved in such activities, as gambling in public places is a non-bailable offence. During such operations, police often seize gambling materials, cash, and mobile phones, in addition to arresting the culprits. This raid is part of the ‘War Against Drugs and Crime’ campaign conducted by Nagaon Police, under which successful operations against drugs and IPL betting have also been carried out in Rupahihat previously.
