It’s not necessary to carry a printout of a general ticket on a train. The Railways have clarified the confusion surrounding general, or unreserved , tickets . The Railways stated that it’s not necessary to carry a printout of a ticket booked through the UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app . Passengers can show the printout to the ticket checking staff (TTE) during their journey by using the ” Show Ticket ” option in the app, and it’s completely valid . This clarification comes after a viral video that caused confusion among many passengers about whether they will now need to carry a printout of their mobile ticket . The Railway Ministry has officially stated that the unreserved ticket displayed on the ” Show Ticket ” section of the UTS app serves as proof of travel . Passengers can show the digital copy on this device using the ticket booked . However , if a passenger has printed the ticket after booking online , they must show it during the successful booking process .Along with this , the Railways has also said that it is wrong for the TTE to demand a printout.
