Strict vehicle checking is underway in Delhi . To combat pollution in Delhi , the fourth phase of the Gated Regional Action Plan came into effect from 12 : 00 midnight on Wednesday and Thursday . Similar strict regulations have been imposed . Starting today , only vehicles with BS-6 engines are allowed into Delhi. Vehicles with less than this standard are not allowed to enter the city . This decision has affected 1 . 2 million vehicles traveling to and from outside Delhi . More than 400,000 vehicles from Noida , 200,000 from Gurugram , and 5 .500 , 000 from Ghaziabad have been barred from entering Delhi . A ” No PUC ” ( No Fuel ) rule has also been implemented in Delhi. Vehicles without a Pollution Under Control Certificate ( PUC ) are not being dispensed petrol , diesel , or CNG . Automatic number plate reader cameras are being installed at petrol pumps to identify vehicles without a PUC certificate . Vehicles are being checked at various locations within the city and on the borders .
If the vehicles fail the PUC test , they are being returned from the petrol pump without fuel .

Delhi Transport Department official Deepak said that non – BS6 commercial and Nisha vehicles registered outside Delhi are being rigorously inspected . Those who fail to comply are being fined ₹20,000 or their vehicles are being towed . Additionally , vehicles without valid and updated Pollution Control Order Certificates are being fined ₹10,000 . Work – from – home mandates have been implemented for 50% of employees in all government and private offices . Primary schools will conduct online classes for children . Secondary and higher secondary students have been given the option to choose online classes of their own free will . As with motor vehicle regulations , there is a provision for confiscation for repeated violations . Under GRAP-4 , vehicles carrying construction materials have been completely banned in Delhi . CNG , electric vehicles , public transport , and essential services have been exempted . Additionally , Gulul will assist in traffic congestion control at hotspots . Violators will face seizure , fines , and legal action
