The baby elephants injured in the Assam train accident also died. The death toll has risen to eight after a train collided with a herd of elephants in Nagaon Kamrup, Assam. A baby elephant injured in the accident died during treatment. This horrific accident occurred early Saturday morning when the Sairang-New Delhi Rajdhani Express collided with a herd of elephants near Changjurai village. The train’s coaches and engine derailed in the accident. Following the incident, the Railways issued a speed control order for 12 hours. Meanwhile, Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav expressed serious concern over the incident and demanded a detailed report from the Assam government. Bhupendra Yadav said that all states have been instructed to monitor the movement of elephants near railway tracks.
